After perfect perfect logistics between hotels and requests for this trip, the bus to take us to the port was
waiting for us outside reception at 5am, local time. We were very excited and shivering in anticipation.
Two hours later, we were on the fast boat that was lapping the sea waves. An hour and a half later, we
were in the depths of the Pi-Phi Islands in the Pi-Phi Le section, which is fabulously beautiful with its
picturesque cliffs and crystal green waters. A little later we set foot on the white sands of Maya Bay where
the feeling was awesome and overwhelming. We captured our memories in countless videos and photos
and our next stop was the island of Cay, where we had the honor to have lunch and swim. We came home
in the late afternoon and relaxed at the local massage studio. In the evening, we booked another trip to
the so called Safari Island where we would watch a show presented by elephants and monkeys. Before
we soaked in the atmosphere of Bangla Road again in the evening, we went to have dinner at one of the
restaurants on the beach in Patong. I draw your attention to this incident because you will have a reason
to laugh at us again. Our attempts to find a vacant restaurant and a seat in it were unsuccessful. However,
luck was with us as always and at the last possible opportunity we were offered a special place...right on
the beach. It would have all sounded and looked so romantic if we weren't two men. Preparations to
please us were underway though. They put lamps in two symmetrical trees, set up a table between them,
lit a candle... "it's getting worrisome", we said to ourselves, but hunger was getting the better of us.
Anyway, we ordered grilled squid, salads and wine. To completely squash the feeling of the moment,
beyond the professional service and goodies, they added special music for us. "What to do?", we muttered
and wished we were with women next time. In the end, we had a good meal that just welcomed the
sunset...that's life. To kill the injustice, angry but fed up, we continued on to Bangla Road to drown the
memory of this crooked romance there. We succeeded, and we ended fittingly. Everyone scored...in the
right goal. God gave us the opportunity to quickly fix our mood and prove to ourselves that we were real
men. Yay!
The next day, happy with the achievements and the good results of the night, we braved another
challenge. We were going to watch the show, and after it, to ride an elephant for the first time. We were
looking forward to this happening. We boarded the elephant on a high platform and our new friend,
guided by a local, proudly strode off for a 30-minute tour of the forest. It was all great fun until He, the
elephant, decided to scratch himself on a rock. I don't know if he was being resourceful or if we just got
lucky again, but we came within an elephant's hair of not filling in the holes on the rock out of his back.
Okay, we argued. Once again, we had cause for a strong night in the embrace of Bangla Road. Earlier we
watched the elephant show, which featured football players giving massages to people, stepping on them,
etc. Nothing to say about the monkeys, they are half human, they just don't talk.
In the remaining days until the end of our stay in Phuket, we indulged in massages, various beaches,
culinary tourism, and there was plenty of time for gifts from the many souvenirs around to delight our
loved ones. I'll end the story of my first time in the land of smiles somewhere here and move on to find
out how much a visit to Thailand can change your life. The denouement is yet to come and continues to
this day.
